One dog per handler.

This is a beginner workshop for all new dogs and handlers. We will walk you through understanding the sport of hunting for rats, introduction of the rat to your dogs, and cover other important elements of successful hunting. In part one, your dog will be introduced to one of our many rats, get to climb on the straw, and practice the tunnel exercise.

  • Limit one dog per handler.

  • Space is limited, registration is required.

Please bring your dog on a 6 ft. leash (no retractable leashes). Bring water and something to keep your dogs calm and quiet during the instructors discussion times. You may bring a crate inside. Disruptive dogs may be asked to wait in the car during these times. We want to build your confidence so when you enter your first trial you are fully prepared.

In part two, we will discuss the rules for BHA and build a strong foundation for beginner barn hunting.

Topics covered:

  • How a trial flows

  • How to enter a trial

  • What classes should your dog be entered in

  • Blind etiquette

  • How to help ringside

  • What to bring to your first event.

  • and so much more.

After this class you will have all the tools to enter your first trial with confidence.
